Grilled cheese gone sweet! The crisp brown sugared apples and moist cinnamon streusel bread is decadent and delicious when paired with the sharp flavor of our Cheddar Cheese. This sweet and savory recipe will satisfy all your cravings.

Ingredients
  • 3 tbsps Finlandia Butter, divided
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsps brown sugar
  • 8 slices cinnamon streusel bread
  • 4 slices Finlandia Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsps milk
  • Powdered sugar
Instructions

Melt 1 tbsp butter in a medium nonstick skillet. Add apple slices and brown sugar. Cook on medium heat 2 minutes or until apples are tender and coated with syrup, stirring occasionally.

Layer 4 bread slices with 1 slice of cheese and apples. Top with remaining bread slices.

In shallow bowl, whisk egg and milk; dip sandwiches in egg mixture until coated. Melt 2 tbsp of the butter in large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat; cook sandwiches 3 minutes per side or until golden brown, cheese is melted and egg is thoroughly cooked, adding a little butter if necessary when turning. Sift powdered sugar over sandwiches.
